A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.
The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.
Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.
For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Edinburgh has a lot to offer, from Harry Potter & other series fans to History & Culture of Scotland good Museums.
It's becoming to get a little bit too much crowded, mainly around Royal Mile, Castle and other like tours.
There are big museums like National Museum of Scotland or Edinburgh Castle and also smaller ones like Writer's Museum or Georgian House.
You can walk around the usual shopping, near Princess Street, Train Station and Bus Station but you can wonder around New Town, Dean Village, Stockbridge or Meadows areas with smaller shops and book stores.
There are some traditional, not food chain pubs and good restaurants around city centre and Leith.

Edinburgh is a very vibrant place to be with many wonderful attractions to visit including the many museum and galleries, t he Botanic gardens, the Water of Leith, Calton Hill, Holyrood and Edinburgh Castle. I think you spend a whole week there and still not visit everything that thre is to offer.
There are many coffee shops and restaurants including the Mor Bakehouse, Cafe Andaluz , the Vittoria, and Balck Ivy to name a few.
Have to include the Meadows and Princes Street Gardens - both perfect for relaxing on a lovely sunny day. Wahtever the weather, there is always something to do in Edinburgh.

Love Edinburgh, however our visit was because o had to renew my Dutch passport at VFG , Dutch embassy, which took half a day. But was able to visit the National museum, if you like this sort of attractions.
It's a massive museum which takes easily 3 hours to walk around in.
Lots of shops, restaurants, cocktail bars and typical Scottish attractions.

I loved everything about Edinburgh, stayed in Old Town, it was fantastic. Walked up Arthur’s Seat, it was beautiful. Went to the museum, to the kierkyard, pubs, restaurants, to the marked and had the best pulled pork I ever had before etc etc. Easy to get around, easy to find your way, so many things to do, I will come back and stay longer and try to experience more in this beautiful city.

Edinburgh has it's positives but I much prefer other areas of Scotland. Glasgow seems to have less of the unnecessary Snobbery. Edinburgh isn't London after all. Glasgow has amazing architecture and there's more a warmth to the Locals over there and all of the Taxi Drivers seem like natural comedians. You also get more value for your money in other areas of Scotland too. Edinburgh isn't a true representation of Scotland. Stirling Castle is much more of a spectacle than Edinburgh Castle which is known to the Glasweigens as 'that hoose on the hill', it's more of a Military Museum than an Actual Castle. Spend a day in Edinburgh and as that's truly all you need. There's so much more to Scotland than it's shallow Capital.

Fantastic city. My new favourite!
Fantastic city. My new favourite!
Transport links to and from the Airport are excellent(you couldn’t go wrong). We took the tram which got us into the main city centre in 30 minutes. It leaves every 7/8 minutes. It was great value for money (£9.50 return) but you can get the bus as well. Easy city to navigate around.
We walked everywhere, although there are a lot of steps and hills. (keep in mind if you’ve got less able bodied people in your group). Lots of laneways and side streets to explore.
We found the people very friendly and helpful.
We did a couple of tours to outside the city to Loch Lomond through Timberbush tours(we booked on Viatour which made it easy) we found these very good but there is more than enough to do in the city itself to keep you busy. There are hop on hop off bus tours available around the Waverley market area). We also did a walking tour of Edinburgh castle which was very good and informative. Most of these tours meet along the Royal Mile which is easy to find.
A clean and well maintained city for the most part.
We stayed in York place which was within easy walking distance of a lively area which had loads of options for dining of every budget.
We will definitely be back.
You have to check in at the pub, which is only around the corner from the hotel. Absolutely loved the staff! They were ever so accommodating, especially with complimentary drinks at arrival. Loved the location with it being a good walk to Edinburgh City Centre - where there was a plethora of independent cafes and bakeries selling all sorts of goodies.
When you're done exploring Edinburgh, then the bed doesn't go amiss, along with the en suite facility.
To reiterate, a great family owned establishment at a great location.
THE LOCATION IS IN THE MIDDLE OF OLD TOWN, JUST OFF THE ROYAL MILE. RESTAURANTS ARE STEPS AWAY. 24 HOUR STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL. THE HOTEL HAS A BAR AND YOU CAN ORDER SNACKS LIKE PIZZA. BREAKFAST WAS AMAZING, PROBABLY THE BEST HOTEL BREAKFAST I'VE EVER HAD. THE STAFF HELD MY SUITCASE FOR 5 DAYS WHILE I WENT ON A SIDE TRIP, WHICH WAS SUCH A CONVENIENCE. THE ROOM WAS SMALL BUT NICE. IT WAS A HOT FEW DAYS AND THERE IS AN AIR COOLER BUT NOT AIR CONDITIONER. I WOULD ABSOLUTELY STAY HERE AGAIN.
The location was amazing! We only had a short time in Edinburgh and this flat was a close walking distance to the bus tour pickups, walking tours and the Royal Mile. We were able to walk to the Castle, Greyfriar’s Kirkyard (and Bobby), our bus pickup for a day trip to Loch Ness, the Edinburgh Dungeon, shopping, Victoria Street, etc.! An amazing spot in Old Town Edinburgh! It was also right next to a bunch of Fringe Festival happenings (though we left the day it started.)
Awesome location right next to historic locations, Victoria St in Old Town Edinburgh, and minutes walk to Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, etc. great vibe in the hostel itself, clean bathrooms, Rey helpful reception staff (had only one day and wanted to get a good taste of things to do)… we walked the Royal Mile and hiked up Calton Hill for a 360 degree view of Edinburgh on recommendation. Great experience!
Room was very spacious, bathroom clean , towels where spotless etc bus stop into the city of Edinburgh just a couple minutes walk from the main entrance. Staff brilliant, typical weatherspoons pub great prices for food and drink ( alot cheaper than ones in the city centre) Great stay will definitely return. Also a car park at rear hotel if driving .
The room was quiet as requested and spotless. They provided the usual toiletries and more importantly the aircon worked very well - which is not usually a given in European hotels. The district itself was quiet yet it was easy to reach the city centre from there. We would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Edinburgh.
Very clean room. The bed was super comfortable. Very warm and cozy and right at the centre of the old town. All members of staff were very polite and helpful. Breakfast was absolutely delicious with so many choices. I will definitely stay here again when I visit Edinburgh in the future. I highly recommend this hotel.
The staff at the Holiday Inn West Edinburgh were courteous and helpful and there was plenty of parking. The view of Edinburgh from our sixth floor window was breathtaking. This hotel is a great option for tourists wanting to "do" Edinburgh as it's easy to reach by car with good connections to the city centre.
Ten Hill Place was a convenient and comfortable location from which to explore Old Town Edinburgh. It is close to Waverly Station, the Royal Mile and our favorite for this trip, the National Museum of Scotland. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful, and the hotel restaurant provided excellent breakfasts.
The hotel is near the city centre, it seems modern and the furniture is almost new. Personal is very nice and the process to check in and check out is easy to do. The look for our luggage while we do a 2-day trip near the city and we are very grateful for that.
The hotel was in the best location in the city centre right on the royal mile. Our room was clean and bed extremely comfortable. Breakfast was lovely too. We didn’t spend much time in the hotel but staff were friendly and bar area looked lovely too
The location of the hotel was perfect, a 10min walk from the city centre.
The room was so spacious and spotless.
The staff were also exceptional Robert the night manager was great to deal with. If returning to Edinburgh we’ll stay here again.
I was very happy with the location of the hotel in respect to the main sights in the old town of Edinburgh. As well, the bed was very comfortable. And the breakfast was fantastic. The staff were informative and helpful every step of the way.
Not to far from Edinburgh City centre
Free parking
Given full refund after poor night's stay due to prom party on until late beneath our room
Receptionists were polite and helpful
Hotel room was good
Comfy bed
We were in Edinburgh to see The Killers at the Royal Highland Showground and this hotel was ideally located across the road from a tram stop with easy access to both the venue and the city centre.
The location was excellent - very central. Edinburgh castle, Holyrood, Old Town, New Town, Princes Street all within easy walking distance. Buses, trams and trains nearby also.
