Known for colorful nightlife and traditional English seaside pursuits, Brighton and nearby Hove are the closest beach resorts to London, making them popular end points for classic car runs from the capital. Many end at the racetrack, a few streets from Brighton Marina, Europe’s largest, housing several shops and eateries. Many Brighton guesthouses on Booking.com are also nearby.
Running along the beachfront is the world’s oldest operating electric train, ending by Brighton Pier. Lit up at night and also known as Palace Pier, this city icon houses amusements and rides, and is one place to pick up some famous Brighton Rock, the confectionery sharing its name with an edgy Graham Greene novel set here.
A new addition, the Brighton Wheel is right by the pier, while one of its most famous attractions is the Royal Pavilion, a former royal retreat built in Indian style.
Just west are 2 of the most popular Brighton shopping spots – Churchill Square shopping center and The Lanes with its narrow streets and unusual shops. This area also has several Brighton hotels with parking, and the Artists Quarter, a series of ex-fishing huts that are now galleries. Arts + culture are big in Brighton, and Brighton Festival is the UK’s 2nd largest arts festival, while Brighton Pride is also a big event on the annual calendar.

A bustling town with plenty of the usual UK High St stores and many buses that run along the coast to Littlehampton to the East and Eastbourne to the West. Hard to walk and sit on LARGE PEBBLE beach though!

Brighton is a mini London.
Brighton is a mini London. You can find all things there, but within walking distance. I felt safe, however on Friday night I smelled weed throughout the main street and pretty packed. Brighton is built on hills, so expect to use your legs, it reminded me of walking in San Francisco. Weather was pretty cold in April, raining, very windy, but overall, I liked It a lot!

Brighton has a lot to offer especially when the weather is good, but I would advise first-time visitors to plan for a Sunday/Monday or mid-week. It can get very busy on even those days. Pretty much everything is within walking distance. Hove has a less of a party vibe and I frankly prefer it - alas my friends live close to the slightly seedier of town (albeit in nice places). Still some good bookshops left...even the Waterstones has an indie vibe. Bands seem to pass through. Missed Goldfrapp last visit in early March when attending a birthday celebration. Also two good arthouses, Lanes for shopping, etc.

Nicely sized for a long weekend, we visited museums, shopped, ate a lot of excellent food. If I can, another year I'll try to be there for their arts festival in May, we just missed it but the posters (going up while we were there) all looked amazing

The fact that they gave us a room with a sea view and put in an extra bed and cot in our room without even asking -- we definitely needed the extra bed! Staff went above and beyond for the needs of our young family. This was an excellent family friendly hotel with a great location in front of the beach and the kids sandy beach area. We absolutely loved our stay and the kids were sad to leave. You are also around the corner from the street with some of the best restaurants in Brighton.
Breakfast was excellent! A great choice of food. The host was very welcoming and friendly. Every comfort was thought of, tea and coffee/ hot chocolate was provided, a selection of biscuits were given also a complementary cake was left for us.The location was ideal for Brighton, right on the seafront. We would highly recommend this Boutique Hotel. Our time there was very enjoyable and wouldn’t hesitate to return.
Staff were so friendly and helpful.
We asked for a late checkout on the day we left, and they gave it free.
Lively area and best hotel for walking to the Brighton Centre as well as to gift shops on same road.
Brighton Pier is not far away either, and there are many places to eat nearby if you don't wish to eat dinner in the bar/bistro part of Queens hotel.
Overall, thank you for a great stay.
FANTASTIC VERY VERY HOSPITABLE KIND AND FRIENDLY HOST CALLED OSCAR FROM MINORCA SPAIN. WOW CANT FAULT HIM HES AMAZING ALSO LOCATION IS AMAZING IN THE BRIGHTON CITY CENTRE NEAR SEAFRONT AND BRIGHTON PALACE PIER. ALSO VERY SUNNY NICE WEATHER WHICH WAS THE ICING ON AN ALREADY NICE CAKE.ALSO WE GOT AN UPGRADED ROOM FREE OF CHARGE. VERY VERY PLEASED WITH THIS HOTEL WILL STAY AGAIN IF IN BRIGHTON.
We found this basic accommodation in Brighton Pride weekend. The receptions and staffs are approachable, friendly and helpful. Great location near to beaches. We had a double room on 3rd Floor, spacious with a large double and a single bed, good seafront view. The bed and mattress very comfortable. Would love to come back YHA on our next visit. Strongly recommended 👍❤️😊
The mattress was very soft and made for really comfy sleeps.
The ability to come and go from the hotel at any time without needing to be let in by a member of staff during the night hours.
Location to the beach was great and was enough away from the main hub of the town so was generally quiet, despite the seagulls having a party most mornings.
A hidden gem! It’s a small hotel near the centre of Brighton. The hotel is completely different from what I’ve known from other hotels and that’s what makes it great. They used a lot of bright colours and art. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is the best: there are a lot of options (even vegan) and tastes delicious.
Very nostalgic and nice hotel in a great spot of Brighton. Our room was with sea view overlooking the Pier and the beach and we had such a nice time while watching outside sitting on our armchairs in the room. The bed was comfy. The room was spacious. The breakfast was very good. The staff were really helpful.
Super Breakfast! Also tasty gluten free bread available. I loved my cosy quite and little room at the third floor. Excellent area for food and drinks near by. From the hotel you see the pier and you are in 2 minutes at the lovely Brighton pebble beach…I can highly recommend it and like to come back next time.
I loved the older ambiance of the hotel, granted due to age it had its quirks yet that gave it character. The staff were all very helpful and I wad upgraded from a double room to a king room. The location directly across from the beach and close proximity to all attractions was key.
Hotel is centrally located and within walking distance to the beachfront. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and the room was not overly crowded at all. The nights were peaceful and on the second night i got a very good sleep after my room was changed from the first night.
The staff were lovely and very helpful. The hotel was comfortable and provided everything we needed for our stay. The location was great, only a short walk from the beach, a variety of bars and restaurants. It was the perfect place for our stay.
Location is fantastic. The rooms are very large. Lounge, bar is spacious and the prices for food and drink are cheaper than most in the local area. Its a budget Hotel. You pay low prices so dont expect luxury. Its all about location and price.
It was a really peaceful and friendly hotel, the view was amazing, right on the beach. Breakfast in the morning was also really nice and had a gluten free option, as someone with coeliac disease this was very much appreciated 👍
Friendly staff, great location in Lanes, near all shops, fab restaurants and hotel/pub itself does good food, right near beach and Brighton Pavilion and taxi rank, breakfast really enjoyable and its brought to your room.
Legends is the best value hotel in Brighton, rooms are modern and super clean. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Location is great for centre and beach.
